Our Artistry

From the beginning of recorded time, the first understandings of the world around us are found in images. Art is a language that requires no translation. It is among the most powerful tools of expression.

Guy Harvey

“Naturalist, author, filmmaker, research scientist, scholar, draftsman, watercolorist, and painter – all terms used to describe the artistry of Dr. Guy Harvey, known simply as “Guy” to his legions of fans. Prodded to take up watercolors by his mother, his niche became pen and ink. From these humble beginnings in the early 1970’s hosting art exhibitions in his hometown of Kingston, Jamaica, Guy Harvey’s work today is respected and collected world-wide for its artistic detail and accuracy.

Considered the John Audubon of marine illustration, Guy Harvey is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his artistic excellence, detailed and realistic depictions of marine life and conservation advocacy through the arts and sciences.

Guy Harvey’s brushstrokes gives voice to the majesty and beauty of the natural world around us. His truly is the “Art of Adventure”!

Our Artwork

Throughout the Guy Harvey Resort St. Augustine Beach we showcase the artistic hand and unique style of local fellow artists, each inspired by the natural beauty of St. Augustine and the waters that surround it.

Surfboard Hall

Surfboard Hall features discarded surfboards collected by the hotel and recycled into works of art. Local artists contribute their time and talent to create sustainable artwork that is offered for sale, the proceeds of which support various local charities and conservation organizations. Featured local artist in the Surfboard Hall include Mary Robinson, Stewart Maxcy, Gina-Marie Hammer, Steve Ryder, Glo MacDonald, Nancy Zedar & Lisa Fisher

Fast Glass Gallery

Ours is a kinetic world where life is often best captured on film using lenses with large apertures and fast shutter speeds, having “fast glass” as it is known. Fast Glass Gallery is our permanent photography exhibit featuring rotating works curated by the Camera Club of St. Augustine from club member submissions in response to monthly artistic assignments and challenges. Fast Glass Gallery gives voice to the many artistic dialects spoken by all who aspire to compose a memorable image. We hope the record of their adventure helps inspire your next exposure in the Art of Adventure!
