In the marshes and estuaries of Matanzas Bay, it’s light tackle for sea trout and sight fishing for redfish during flood tides. From June through September, the tarpon bite turns on just outside the local inlets and along the beaches.

PIER FISHING

Enjoy fishing without a big commitment of time or money on the St. Johns County Ocean Pier less than a ½ mile away from our resort. The pier is open daily from 6AM through 10PM. The gift shop carries rental fishing equipment, as well as tackle, bait, snacks and sportswear . There’s also a playground, a splash park, bocce courts, and a farmer’s market on Wednesday mornings. Just $6 for a non-resident all day fishing pass that includes your license.

Combine fishing with a visit to the city’s iconic lighthouse! Lighthouse Park, just 4.5 miles from the hotel, offers a 300’ pier affording access to Salt Run on Anastasia Island. The St. Augustine municipal park has picnic tables under shaded scrub oaks and restroom facilities. Fishing is free, but there’s no tackle or bait shop on site, and when park rangers stop by, be sure to have a current Florida fishing license in your tackle box!

BOAT RAMPS

If you’re dragging water toys along on vacation, the closest boat ramp to the hotel is found at Lighthouse Park, just 4.5 miles north. The St. Augustine municipal ramp opens onto the Salt Run inlet that flows north into the Mantazas River and St. Augustine Inlet. The ramp is open at all times, although no overnight parking is permitted.
