WATER ADVENTURES

Whether kayaking, boating, sailing, private adventures or group tours, St. Augustine Eco Tours specializes in exceptional ecological programs. An interpretative naturalist guides explain the marsh habitat, estuary and the various wildlife that calls it home. Located at City Marina south of the Bridge of Lions.

NATURE WALKS

Named for three rivers that tie together 76,760 acres of Northeast Florida watershed, the Guana Tolomato Matanzas (GTM) National Estuarine Research Reserve protects a habitat of amazing and valuable diversity spanning nearly 40 miles of coastal lands. GTM hosts over 200,000 visitors annually, offering a variety of guided hikes and walking trails complementing its 20,000 sf interpretive center.

Situated on 100 acres of salt marsh and barrier island at the southern mouth of the Mantanzas River, Fort Matanzas was built in 1742 to guard the entrance to St. Augustine. In addition to its historic features and reenactment shows, be sure to walk the half-mile boardwalk trail through the seemingly harsh living conditions of the barrier island salt marsh.

Anastasia State Park is located on The Great Florida Birding and Wildlife Trail, with 1,600 acres of rich ecosystems and abundant wildlife. The estuarine tidal marsh is teeming with animal life; water birds such as herons, storks and roseate spoonbills can be seen in the salt marshes with osprey, bald eagles and owls flying high above or resting in the tree tops. The park regularly offers a variety of guided nature walks.
