Nights of Lights is an award-winning light display in St Augustine where visitor and residents enjoy over three million holiday lights illuminating its historic downtown. Nights of Lights begins with the Light up the Night on November 20, 2021 and continues through January 31, 2022. During this holiday season trolley’s, trains, and tours will offer special seasonal tours that take you through the best areas. Business owners will stay open later letting you dine and shop while viewing the lights. This is a great time to visit St Augustine viewing an award-winning light display and enjoying all the activities and events in downtown and on St Augustine Beach.

WAYS TO TOUR NIGHT OF LIGHTS

Downtown St Augustine is a short drive from the hotel and convenient for people to either walk or find a tour to enjoy all the festivities. From the Old Town Trolley, to a guided golf cart tour, we will help coordinate your Nights of Lights adventure.

Old Town Trolley

Hop on the Old town Trolley Tour. On the trolley you will be able to sing along with carolers, sip on some hot cider, enjoy delicious cookies, and receive complimentary glasses for an enhanced, fully immersive holiday experience. Old Town Trolley Tickets can be purchased from the front desk at the hotel or at the Visitor Information Center. The tours start at 6:00 pm from the Visitor Information Center at 10 West Castillo Drive and run between 6:00-9:00 pm departing every 15 minutes. The Fast Track Pass costs $18.99 for adults, $11.99 for children 3 – 12, and children under age 3 are free. General Admission costs $13.99 for adults, $6.99 for children 3-12 and children under age 3 are free. The Old Town Trolley Nights of Lights Tour is approximately 30 minutes. Prices subject to change.

Luxury Golf Cart with Explore Tours

Explore Tours offers personable guided tours with a twist of history to show off the Nights of Lights display. Vehicles seat up to 9-10 guest and are not restricted to a set route. Here you can venture down the smaller streets and see more of the historic downtown. Tickets can be booked online. Tours run from November 20-January 31, 2022. Tours start at 6pm and run every half hour. Pets are allowed, but please arrange prior to arrival of tour. If your dog is large they will require you to purchase an additional seat. Ripley’s Big Read Christmas Train

Ripley’s Big Red Christmas Train takes you on a magical trip through St. Augustine’s beautiful historic district Nights of Lights celebration. Tours are offered every night except Christmas with tickets. Tours begin at the Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Odditorium at 19 San Marcos Avenue, St Augustine, FL. Horse & Carriage

Enjoy a tour of the old city on a romantic horse and carriage tour. Tours depart from the Bayfront near the Castillo de San Marcos daily. Rates vary from $125 for a group of 4 and up. Reserve your carriage with Southern Carriages or with Country Carriages.

Walking

Enjoy viewing the nights of lights at your own pace. Downtown is a walkable city, with crossings and pedestrian-only areas offering safe routes for visitors on foot. The Plaza de la Constitution in the center of St. Augustine’s historic district is the perfect starting point for exploring the nation’s oldest city during Nights of Lights.

Not only is it a great central point in the city, offering access to pedestrian-only areas like St. George Street, but the lights on the Plaza are some of the prettiest, climbing around the branches of live oak trees and illuminating the city’s Christmas tree display in the heart of the square.

Nights of Pints

Nights of Pints is a bar-hopping special offered by four local St. Augustine breweries during the Nights of Lights season 2020-21. Nights of Pints will kick-off on Saturday, November 19, 2021 — when the lights will come on for the Nights of Lights. Participants can enjoy a seasonal pint on the house at any time between November 19, 2021 and January 31, 2022, from any of these four breweries:

For $30, participants receive a commemorative T-shirt and a passport that entitles them to a free pint at the four local breweries above at any time during the Nights of Lights event.

This year’s Nights of Pints will also benefit local charity.

Kick off the Nights of Lights on opening night with the Light Up Night on November 20, 2021 at the Plaza de la Constitution that turns on the Nights of Lights display and a free concert.

St. Augustine Art & Craft Festival - November 27-28, 2021

Hosted by the St. Augustine Art Association on Thanksgiving weekend, the event features more than 150 artists offering painting, pottery, jewelry, sculpture, photography and mixed media along with musical performances at Francis Field. Saturday 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m.- 4:30 p.m.

Join us for a special Guy Harvey Outpost Photo Academy with professional and award-winning photographer Mark Krancer in St Augustine during the Nights of Lights. Santa Suits on the Loose 5K 2020 benefits St. Augustine Youth Services. Proceeds help provide normal experiences to residential foster kids and those with a mental health diagnosis and non-traditional families, especially during the Holiday season.

Holiday Regatta of Lights- December 11, 2021

The annual Holiday Regatta of Lights is a spectacular, colorful parade of boats of all types decorated with festive lights for the Christmas Holiday. The vessels “parade” before the crowds on the Bayfront just North of the Bridge of Lions. There will be sailboats, sport-fishermen, shrimp boats, trawlers, and more.

This annual event reflects on the maritime heritage of the Oldest City and is in keeping with St. Augustine’s historical seaborne image. Visitors and locals can view the event from the Seawall on the Bayfront, the Castillo de San Marcos, the Bridge of Lions, and the Eastern shore of the bay. Come early and get a ‘prime’ spot for viewing!

Casting call for all pups and party-animals! Come join us December 16th from 5:30 – 8:00 pm, at the Guy Harvey Resort St. Augustine Beach as we try for a World Records for the most Santa Dogs at a single event. Dress your best friend in any kind of festive Santa costume and let’s show the world that St. Augustine is one of the most dog-friendly destinations!

Light up the Night New Year’s Firework Show

St. Augustine Beach’s New Year’s Eve celebration is back with a new name and a new mission to support local businesses. As in years past, the event will include a large fireworks display at 8:30 p.m. Friday, December 31, 2021, at the St. Johns County Ocean Pier.

The Light Up the Night New Year’s Eve Fireworks Show will be preceded by a Beach Boulevard Block Party in which local businesses will celebrate with food, beverages and live entertainment. For a list of participating businesses, visit here. Admission is free.
