Our Artistry

Art is a language that requires no translation. It is among the most powerful tools of expression. From the beginning of recorded time, the first understandings of the world around us are found in images. Throughout the Guy Harvey Resort St. Augustine Beach we showcase the artistic hand of Guy Harvey and local fellow artists, each inspired by the natural beauty of St. Augustine and the waters that surround it.

Guy Harvey

Considered the equal of John Audubon for his scientifically precise marine illustrations, Guy Harvey is the recipient of numerous prestigious awards for his artistic excellence, detailed and realistic depictions of marine life and conservation advocacy through the arts and sciences. Known simply as “Guy” to his legions of fans, his brushstrokes gives voice to the majesty and beauty of the natural world around us. His is truly the “Art of Adventure”!

Throughout the hotel and guestrooms, enjoy some of the many thousands of marine life images he has created in his career. To see some of his artwork currently offered for sale, click here.

Sealife Gallery

Guy’s detailed depiction of marine life Guy has won him wide recognition as the “John Audubon of marine illustration”. Our Sealife Gallery, located just off the lobby, displays a variety of illustrations curated from his vast library of marine life, including fish, rays, sharks and others. With his PhD in Marine Science, each of the vividly detailed images include his overview of their particular biology, habitat and conservation challenges.

Fast Glass Gallery

Ours is a kinetic world where life is often best captured on film using lenses with large apertures and fast shutter speeds, having “fast glass” as it is known. Fast Glass Gallery is our permanent photography exhibit featuring rotating works curated by the St. Augustine Camera Club from club member submissions in response to monthly artistic assignments and challenges. Fast Glass Gallery gives voice to the many artistic dialects spoken by all who aspire to compose a memorable image. We hope the record of their adventure helps inspire your next exposure in the Art of Adventure!
