Join us for a special Outpost Photo Academy hosted by professional photographers Ben Hicks and Adam King, noted for their award winning open water and surf images.

Dive into the tips and techniques of these two industry leaders on how to shoot in the water compelling waves & surfing images. Get wet, with free use of demo cameras provided by Canon and housing units by Aquatech; or stay dry, shooting from the shoreline if preferred. Both pros will offer individual instruction in shooting and editing to improve skills that build a lifetime of fun with photography.

FRIDAY - SUNSET LIGHT

5:00 PM – 9:00 PM

Meet and greet at our basecamp, the Guy Harvey Resort, St. Augustine Beach. We’ll head across the dunes to the beach, get our gear organized and head into the surf for one-on-one instruction from Ben and Adam.

SATURDAY MORNING

6:30 AM – 10:30 PM
$85/Photographer

Let’s experience some of the South Carolina’s Low Country! The first morning stop is Saint Helena Parish Chapel of Ease Church Ruins. This historic church has been shot in many movies and is great to capture the history of Beaufort. Afterwards, we tour Fort Fremont, a real treasure for photograph with lots of different textures and cavities to explore for photographers. From there, we will go back to downtown as photographers will have free time to explore downtown, get lunch and relax before afternoon session.

SATURDAY AFTERNOON – EDITING

1:30 PM – 4:30 PM

After a chance to change out of morning session beachwear and have some lunch at the hotel, we’ll convene in one of the hotel’s meeting rooms to work in one-on-one sessions with Ben and Adam to learn how to select and edit images for pro-level consideration. The class will include a group presentation and discussion of images.

CAMERAS YOU CAN BRING

  • Any DSLR camera including any detachable lenses you may have.
  • Point and shoot camera if you don’t have a DSLR
  • Cell phone camera if you have no other cameras(Which is ok!).
  • A strap or other type of harness to secure your camera gear.

GEAR TO BRING

  • A backpack for your gear if you feel you need one
  • Chargers for your electronics
  • SD card reader or some other way to get files from your camera to your computer
  • Laptop
  • Camera batteries
  • Change of clothes and towel if you want to get wet.
  • Willingness to learn!
